Children too ill to attend school
Education authorities have a duty to make arrangements for children who, for health reasons, cannot attend school. This was set out in the Standards in Scotland's Schools etc Act 2000.
It is intended to ensure that children who are ill receive education which is directed to the development of the personality, talents and mental and physical abilities of the child or young person to their fullest potential.
Guidance on education of children absent from school through ill-health was published in December 2001.
Speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy for children
The outcome of a review into speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy for children was published in 2003. The report made 21 recommendations on therapy for children.
A range of leaflets was published in 2005 which explain the roles of Allied Health Professionals and the services they can provide for childen.
