Sex education

Sex and Relationships Education

Sex education is an important aspect of every child's personal and social development and it is expected that all schools will build it into the curriculum.

The aim is to help young people make informed, responsible and healthy choices about their lives.

Sex education should present facts in an objective, balanced and sensitive manner within a framework of sound values.

General information about Scotland's sexual health strategy, including a guide for parents and carers on sex education in schools, is available.

Further information for parents and teachers is available on Learning Teaching Scotland's website.
