
The Scottish Education Awards are a celebration of the good practice and innovative developments taking place in schools across the country. They highlight best practice in Scottish classrooms, celebrate schools and acknowledge the dedicated individuals who devote their lives to helping young people fulfill their potential.
Entry to the awards is open to all publicly funded schools, including secondary, primary, nursery and special schools.
The finalists for this year's awards have now been announced and are listed on the Scottish Education Awards website. The winners will be announced at a glitterin awards ceremony on June 16, 2009 at the City Halls in Glasgow.

The 2009 awards categories are:
- One Scotland Active Citizenship Award
- LTS Ambition Award
- Determined to Succeed Most Enterprising School: Primary and Early Years, Secondary and Special (3 Awards)
- Determined to Succeed Best Enterprise Award
- Quality Meat Scotland Health and Wellbeing - Hungry for Success Award
- Adventi ICT Learning Award
- Greener Schools Award

- Homecoming Scotland Award
- CBI Schools for All Award
- Glasgow City Council International Schools Award
- The SQA Award for Education Supporter of the Year
- The Scottish Daily Record Award for Probationary Teacher of the Year (In First Year of Teaching)
- The Scottish Daily Record Award for Teacher of the Year
- The Scottish Daily Record Award for Headteacher of the Year
- The Scottish Daily Record Award for Lifetime Achievement
The 2008 awards ceremony took place at the City Halls in Glasgow on June 13, 2008, and
was presented by broadcaster Sally Magnusson.
