Shout about it!
Once you've got your St Andrew's Day celebrations planned, you need to think about how you're going to let others know what your school is up to.
You can make use of existing means of communication such as your school newsletter or website. But why not create a real buzz and invite people into the school too?
Many schools hold open days. If you already have one planned why not simply make the theme 'Celebrating Success'. If not, why not consider holding one or open your doors for a few hours at lunchtime or in the evening? Get your pupils to advertise the event by making posters or leaflets to place in local shops, businesses, community centres, libraries and doctors' surgeries.
You can also invite some guests directly - maybe your local MSP, MP, MEP or councillor. Invite staff from your education authority, from local businesses and from other local organisations. This will help spread the word as widely as possible.
And why stop there? Give your local newspaper or radio station a call* - tell them what you have planned and ask if they'd like to come along and see it for themselves. The more unusual your event, the more chance they'll come along. Think about will make a lively photo or what will sound fun on the airwaves. You could even ask them if they'd like to sponsor your event.
Take pictures at the event or film it. You can then put these in your next newsletter or post them on your website. Most councils publish a newspaper for their area so why not see if you can get something in there?
Whatever you choose to do, let us know what you have planned by emailing us at celebratingsuccess@scotland.gsi.gov.uk and we'll help publicise your celebrations across Scotland. And send us your photos or film through the 'Showcase Your School' page and we'll show those off too!
* Some councils require their schools to check with them before dealing with the media. Check with your education authority first.
