
Perth & Kinross Council is located in central Scotland. Covering 5,286 square kilometres, it is characterised by a diverse mix of rural and urban communities - from the main population centre of Perth and towns such as Blairgowrie, Crieff, Kinross, Auchterarder and Pitlochry, to extremely remote communities such as Kinloch Rannoch in the Highland area. The population of Perth and Kinross is 140,190. There are 88 publicly funded schools, including 76 primaries, 10 secondaries and 2 special schools. 17,977 pupils attend these schools, including 10,057 primary pupils, 7,870 secondary pupils and 50 special needs pupils.
