Situated just north of Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire covers an area of some 175 square kilometres. Around 105,460 people live within the area, which is bounded to the north by the Campsie Hills. There are 51 publicly funded schools, including 37 primaries, 8 secondaries and 6 special schools. 16,538 pupils attend these schools, including 8,517 primary pupils, 7,854 secondary pupils and 167 special needs pupils.
