The Executive published in 2003 it's lifelong
learning strategy: "
Life Through
Learning; Learning Through Life" .
The operation of the Scottish Union Learning Fund
(SULF) contributes to the
Smart, Successful Scotland priority
to "increase the demand for high quality in-work
training".
The lifelong learning strategy recognises the key
role that unions play in learning. Unions are able to work
with their members and employers to promote and deliver
learning in the workplace.
SULF was established in August 2000. Since
then there have been four rounds of projects involving a
total of 46 projects from 21 unions.
A total of £2.7m has been awarded to these
projects.
Current funding stands at £800k each year.
