Research tells us that, where there are skills problems in Scotland , the skills that are most often lacking are management and leadership skills. There is no centralised agency charged with the development of management and leadership skills. Instead, those skills are developed in a number of ways which are responsive to specific needs.
Our Enterprise Networks, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands & Islands Enterprise, offer tailored support through their Local Enterprise Companies. Learndirect scotland 4 business help employers to find training solutions for their companies, and offer a series of programmes aimed at developing management and leadership skills. Our business schools offer a wide range of management programmes aimed at various levels. The Scottish Leadership Foundation works in the public sector to improve leadership skills. We also work closely with the Sector Skills Councils through the Cross-Sector Board on Management and Leadership.
