EQUAL
EQUAL is a Community Initiative which is designed to help a range of target groups with a particular focus on equality issues associated with gender, disability, race or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, and sexual orientation. EQUAL differs from mainstream ESF funding by its thematic approach to testing, developing and disseminating new ways to deliver employment policies which combat all forms of discrimination and inequality experienced by those trying to get in to the labour market and those already in it.
The thematic approach explores new ways of tackling the problems common to different types of discrimination and inequality, rather than focusing on a specific target group. This approach helps with mainstreaming and encourages wide and diverse partnerships that cover all the expertise and representation required to deliver the best, most innovative solutions to the identified problems.
EQUAL has received 2 rounds of funding with 7 Development Partnerships forming in the first round and 11 in the second round.
