Jobcentre Plus

Jobcentre Plus replaced the Benefits Agency
and Employment Service in April 2002, and is part of the
Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Visit the
Jobcentre Plus website on
www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk
to access over 400,000 jobs.
The main benefits available include:
Jobseekers' Allowance - the main benefit
for people who are unemployed. Provides financial help
whilst looking for work. Claims should be made as soon as
possible at a local Jobcentre.
Income Support - can be claimed by those
who do not have enough money to live on. The amount
available depends on circumstances, for example for single
parents or those too ill to work.
Incapacity Benefit - is the main benefit
for people who become sick and are unable to work.
