Free help for small businesses in
Scotland
The Inland Revenue Business Support Team offers help and
advice to new and small businesses, making it easier for
them to understand their responsibilities and meet their
Income Tax, National Insurance and Tax Credit obligations.
This help can be delivered at workshops - normally a half
day each - or during a visit if that is the preferred
medium. Visits can take place at the business premises or
at another suitable venue.
The workshops which regularly take place throughout
Scotland are
Business Series:
- Self assessment for the self employed;
- Construction Industry Scheme (workshops for both
contractors and sub-contractors)
Employer Series:
- Statutory Sick/Maternity/Paternity/Adoption
Pay.
Although the service is primarily aimed at new and small
employers/businesses, the Business Support Team can offer
advice to any employer or business that needs assistance
with problems relating to Income Tax, National Insurance
contributions or Tax Credits.
