Cabinet response to economic situation

The Scottish Government has drawn up a six-point programme with the aims of boosting economic development and helping households in difficult times.

The economy will be a standing item at every meeting of the Cabinet as Ministers seek to ensure that progress is maintained, as far as possible, towards the Government's purpose of increasing sustainable economic growth.

The programme includes:

  • reshaping capital expenditure
  • intensifying activity and support for tourism and Homecoming 2009
  • ending activity that could be burdensome to development
  • intensifying work around energy efficiency
  • increasing advice to businesses and individuals
  • improving financial advice to vulnerable individuals
