Scottish Seafood Partnership (SSP)

FishIn June (2011) the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment, Richard Lochhead, announced a strategic, two-pronged, approach to improve Scottish Government's engagement with stakeholders thereby ensuring a partnership approach to fisheries management and seafood supply.

The first step to delivering this approach was the establishment of the Fisheries Management and Conservation Group in August (2011) which focused on sea fisheries management.

The second step was the establishment of the Scottish Seafood Partnership in January 2012. The aim of the Partnership is to add value to all seafood products from net to plate and to promote sustainable profitability of the seafood sector.
