The food and drink industry, currently worth £7.3 billion, is a major contributor to Scotland's economy with one in five people in Scottish manufacturing working in the sector.
As well as being vital to Scotland's economy, food impacts on many other aspects of Scottish life including our health and environment.
The Scottish Government launched the National Food and Drink Policy on June 26, 2009 at the Royal Highland Show.
It also published a Scottish Retailers' Charter with supermarkets who have committed to playing their part in taking forward the national food and drink policy in five key areas.
