Lies, Dam Lies and Statistics. Every one knows what food is good for you but many will just not admit that so called Junk food Tastes great and much better than the healthy option. Try as you might with the healthy eating Propoganda, I know a salad is nowhere as nice as a bag of chips or a chocolate bar.

a healthy lifestyle involves exercise as well as eating healthy food.
if society was to take more exercise then eating so called junk food would not be a problem.
let people walk to work, let children walk to school
make society a safer place to enjoy outdoor activities.
let the people leave there centrally heated living rooms where they watch mass produced mind numbing rubbish
let us get out there and live life to the full.

then we can enjoy the occasional mouthfull of "junk food" without feeling guilty.

I'm inclined to agree with Donaidh - Peighinn na Cuthaig, Meadhan Lòdainn.
Except that he has missed out neeps from his haggis, green peas and carrots from his mince and salt 'n vinegar from his fish 'n chips!!
In my young days (1920/30s) we had good wholesome food.

I agree that if mothers stay home with the children then a healthier lifestyle for your family is more possible. Cooking healthy meals every night that all the family will enjoy takes a lot of planning not to mention time spent in the supermarket buying fresh ingredients. I think the key to healthy eating is try to eat natural products and what better than those fresh from Scotland!

Healthy eating is a facile and meaningless expression when the authorities promoting it don't really understand the principles thmselves!
The misguided obsession with eating a low fat diet has demonised fat and favoured carbohydrate foods. There is no evidence that this is healthy, and considerable evidence that it is not.
It's the sugars and starches that are the problem, not the fat!

Mothers staying at home is not going to stop the vast amounts of junk food consumed. I am a working mother who cooks from scratch for most meals what you need to be is organized and plan ahead. cooking skills need to be taught. I made a chicken hot pot last night for tonights tea chicken and veggies all in one pot took me about 10 min to prepare and 20 mins to cook yesterday. All I have to do tonight is heat it up.

Does junk food have a place in a balanced diet? Yes absolutely. If adults and kids use it as a treat, sometimes it 'hits the spot' like nothing else does. Last night, a pepperoni pizza and a cold beer with the football was my treat.
