Renewable Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Support

The Renewable Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Support Scheme is a Scottish scheme with total funding of £1.5 million. The scheme provides grants to businesses or communities to deploy and demonstrate renewable hydrogen and fuel cell technology.

The aim of the Renewable Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Support Scheme is to develop off-grid capacity and market opportunities / applications for renewable hydrogen and fuel cells in Scotland.

Key objectives

  • To increase the use of renewable hydrogen & fuel cell technology in Scotland in order to promote the development of a diverse renewables supply;
  • To enhance grid stability by accommodating off-grid generation from intermittent renewable sources;
  • To maximise the economic benefits from renewable developments utilising renewable hydrogen or fuel cell technology; and
  • To increase carbon savings in line with the Executive's commitment as set out in 'Changing our Ways: Scotland's Climate Change Programme' published in 2006.
