The Scottish Government is providing grants for community groups and householders interested in using renewable energy to meet some of their own energy needs. The Communities And Renewable Energy Scheme is managed for the Scottish Government by an independent charity, Community Energy Scotland, which can provide information on how to apply. More information for householders is available by contacting the Energy Saving Scotland Advice Network on 0800 512 012.
Renewables projects are also receiving support from the Scottish Biomass Heat Scheme, and schemes for marine energy and renewable hydrogen however each of these schemes are now closed to new applications.
