The scheme is now closed for new applications. These pages are now for information only.

The Scottish Executive has launched a support scheme for the biomass sector.

The scheme is Scotland wide with total funding of £7.5 million over the financial years 2006/07 and 2007/08. The scheme provides grants to support both supply chain, heat, and CHP installations. It is open to a range of organisations from producer groups to businesses.

Key drivers are:

  • the strategic transformation of the Scottish biomass woodfuel sector market
  • maximising carbon savings
  • supporting rural economies by creating sustainable green jobs
  • contributing to renewable energy targets

The scheme is aimed at promoting biomass (primarily woodfuel) in Scotland. Support will fall into 2 key categories: (1) support for supply chain infrastructure directly related to developing the woodfuel/biomass supply chain, (2) support for biomass installations including eligible kit/pipe work and boiler plant.

Potential applicants may wish to obtain the guidance notes which are available, prior to completing the relevent application form.

Further information is available via the website at http://www.usewoodfuel.co.uk.
