The awards recognise Scotland's best new building projects. Projects are awarded in four categories: regeneration, community benefit, building conservation and sustainability. Each of the four category winners in Scotland goes on to compete in the RICS global awards final against projects from across the world. And one of these winners is named 'Scottish building project of the year'. Entries are invited from anyone involved in a building project which was completed in the past three years. The closing date is January 22, 2010. Email Laura Butcher for an entry pack. See www.rics.org/awards for more information.
Site Visits
The site visit events offers the chance to see the award winning projects in the flesh. A tour will be given by the architects and users of the facilities, information on how the funding was secured, design background and learning outcomes. Full details of site visits can be found at www.rics.org/stanleymills and www.rics.org/lochgelly. The Lochgelly Miners' Institute was commended at the RICS global awards on October 16 - if you're interested in the site visit to this project on December 3, contact events-scotland@rics.org.
