The availability of land and its effective development is vital to the successful and sustainable transformation of communities across Scotland.
The processes for land acquisition, land assembly and land remediation all have a direct impact on regeneration. In particular in areas affected by past industrial decline and for our most deprived communities, previously developed land that remains vacant or derelict for long periods of time adversely impacts the people close to it and represents a lost economic opportunity.
Bringing this land back into productive use for housing, for economic purposes and to create attractive environments supports regeneration. It also contributes to our goal to increase housing supply and the Scottish Government's Purpose of increasing sustainable economic growth.
