Better Community Engagement Skills Development

The Community Empowerment Action Plan will cover several broad areas of work, and will include investing in an integrated programme to develop skills and capacity in community engagement. The Scottish Government is currently setting up a programme to develop a range of learning materials and programmes based on the 'Better Community Engagement: A Framework for Learning' to meet the needs of those delivering community engagement in local areas. This will bring national coherence and ensure quality in training and learning around community engagement practice across Scotland.

The aims of this project are to establish one or more working models of effective learning for community engagement across Scotland; evidence how structured learning could impact or improve community engagement practice and provide an evidence base for future development of learning for community engagement. The model for delivery of this project is a national development programme which will operate through a small number of local demonstration projects.

The Scottish Government is currently going through a procurement exercise to appoint a contractor to deliver this work on our behalf.

If you are involved in a project delivering or developing training and learning in community engagement, and would like to participate as a pilot project, please contact Wendy-Louise Smith.
