The Scottish Planning Policy (SPP) and National Planning Policy Guidance (NPPG) series' are being consolidated into one document. The subject policies, currently set out in SPPs and NPPGs, will remain in force until replaced by the consolidated SPP in 2009.
When published in its final form, the new SPP will have Three Parts:
- Part One - The purpose of planning and core principles for the system's operation.
- Part Two - The objectives for development planning, development management and enforcement.
- Part Three - Subject policies
Parts One and Two were published as Scottish Planning Policy (SPP) on 28 October 2008, superseding SPP1 The Planning System (2002). The remaining sections of the consolidated SPP was published on 1 April 2009. the consultation closed on 24 June 2009.
