The Scottish Government in association with the Royal Town Planning Institute In Scotland run the annual Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning (SAQP), which were first launched in August 1997. The awards aim to stimulate the creativity of those engaged in planning, in the process and the quality of development produced, and to raise the profile of good practice.
Originally in three Award categories, a fourth category was added in 2005 to recognise the positive role that people play in planning. A panel of three Judges make their recommendations for awards and commendations to Scottish Ministers, and may also recommend an Overall Winner Award for outstanding achievement. The categories are:
- Development Management
- Development Plans
- Development on the Ground
- Community Involvement
Past winning examples in each of the four categories can be found in our Previous Winners section.
