Rural Homes for Rent Pilot Scheme
The Scottish Government's Rural Homes for Rent Pilot Scheme will fund additional new-build affordable housing for affordable rent in rural Scotland. Grant funding will be targeted at landowners in pressured rural housing markets where registered social landlords have been constrained in meeting local housing and homelessness need.
- The closing date for expressions of interest was 8 July 2008. Following healthy interest in the scheme, we received 67 applications from across 16 local authority areas. All pro-formas have now been assessed for eligibility. Results have now been fed back to individual applicants, and short-listed landowners have been invited to submit detailed bids.
- 49 applications have been invited to the detailed application stage. These span the following local authority areas: East Lothian, Fife, Scottish Borders, Angus, Perth & Kinross, Clackmannanshire, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Highland, Shetland Islands, Western Isles, Dumfries & Galloway, Argyll & Bute, and North Ayrshire. Projects invited to the next stage range in scale from one unit to 12 units.
If you have been invited to submit a detailed bid for the next stage of the Rural Homes for Rent Pilot, please save and complete the Grant Application Form and Project Plan (this is a Microsoft Excel-format spreadsheet with three worksheets). You should also continue to refer to Housing Investment Guidance Note HIGN 2008/04.
When both the grant application and project plan documents have been completed you should submit these to your local Housing Investment Division contact, as detailed in your notification letter, no later than Friday 6 February 2009.
A model Tenancy Agreement and associated Guidance Note is available, along with model Nominations Agreement and Allocations Policy.
