Good quality, affordable housing is fundamental to our wellbeing and success as individuals, communities and as a country.
Alex Neil, Minister for Housing and Communities set out the Scottish Government's vision for the future of social housing with the publication of The Way Forward. Taking forward the key themes raised in the consultation on investing in affordable housing, the statement was agreed with the SFHA and COSLA with input from Homes for Scotland. It outlines our shared view for strengthening the way we invest in the social housing sector.
Two working groups have been set up in response to the statement. The first will look at issues of collaboration, consortia and procurement; the second will develop advice on a standard for development and a framework for assessing organisations who wish to receive subsidy to build new affordable homes.
