Good quality, affordable housing is fundamental to our wellbeing and success as individuals, communities and as a country.
To maximise how affordable housing meets the needs of current and future tenants, the Scottish Government proposed a more strategic and competitive approach for delivering our investment.
A consultation, which ended in March 2009, proposed a series of changes in the way that affordable housing is delivered and asked for the sector's views on how we should approach regional structures, funding reform and encouraging and supporting relationships between Housing Associations. It received over 200 responses which are summarised in a report , published in June 2009.
Following discussions with the SFHA, COSLA and with input from Homes for Scotland, the Scottish Government has published a statement which outlines our shared view for the way forward in the way we invest in the social housing sector. The statement builds on the responses received to the consultation.
