Sheltered Housing and Retirement Housing

House key

The House Key website includes a directory of sheltered and retirement housing. It enables you to search for sheltered and retirement housing to rent or buy in all local authority areas in Scotland. It also provides details of the services available in each development.

House Key also has directories of housing support services and home adaptation and repair services.

Code of Practice

The Scottish Government has produced a Code of Practice for Private Retirement Housing in Scotland in partnership with the Association of Retirement Housing Managers. The Code of Practice is aimed at both managers and owners of retirement housing. It provides details of the services that must be provided by law and those that should be provided as good practice.

Owners and prospective owners of retirement housing can obtain copies of the Code of Practice by contacting the Housing Support Team by email or calling 0131-244-5518.

Age Scotland has published a useful factsheet for people considering a move into private retirement housing.
