Scottish Private Rented Sector Strategy Group
The Scottish Private Rented Sector Strategy Group was set up in September 2009 from the membership of the existing Safeguarding Tenancy Deposits Working Group. The Group's task is to consider the conclusions of the Scottish Government's Review of the Private Rented Sector which was published in March this year and to prioritise activity and make recommendations to Ministers on the way forward.
The Minister for Housing and Communities has appointed an independent Chairperson, Professor Douglas Robertson to steer the group's work over the next two years. Dr Robertson is the Head of Department of Applied Social Science at Stirling University and has a wide range of expertise and knowledge in this area. Scottish Government officials will provide secretariat support.
The group has agreed the following remit:
To advise the Scottish Government on how it can support tenants, landlords and others to grow a professional, high quality Private Rented Sector equipped to provide sustainable housing solutions for Scotland in the 21st century.

- Crisis
- Local Authority representatives from Scottish Borders Council and Edinburgh Council
- National Association of Estate Agents
- National Federation of Property Professionals
- National Union of Students
- Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
- Scottish Association of Landlords
- Scottish Council for Single Homeless
- Shelter
