What is the Open Market Shared Equity Pilot scheme? LIFT logo and background

The Open Market Shared Equity Pilot scheme allows people to buy homes that are for sale on the open market. The scheme has been helping to support the housing market during the difficult economic climate. A brochure Open Market Shared Equity Pilot, available in different formats on request, contains detailed information about this scheme.

Please note that, due to very high demand from buyers, the Open Market scheme funding has been fully allocated for 2009-10. This means that if you have not already applied to take part, you will not be able to sumbit an application for the moment.

If you already have a 'passport' for the scheme that has not yet expired you can of course still go ahead and purchase a home. Alternatively, if you have already applied, but are on a reserve list, the housing association managing the scheme in your area will keep you informed of the situation. If you have any queries about your application, please contact the housing association directly. We are currently actively reviewing our Open Market Shared Equity Pilot to look at the options for the scheme next year.

There are limits set on the price of homes that can be bought under the open market scheme - these are known as threshold prices. These limits vary according to house prices in different parts of Scotland, called threshold price areas, and are reviewed regularly. You can find out these limits and details of the registered social landlords that operate the scheme in each of the scheme's eight administrative areas through the links below. You can see which threshold price area covers the region in which you wish to buy on a map.
