Under section 34 of the Building (Scotland) Act 2003, Scottish Ministers have the power to request information or reports in relation to the functions of a local authority, verifier or certifier under the Act. In September 2009 Building Standards Division (BSD) advised local authorities that information on the following six aspects of the building standards service would be collected:
1. The number of Building Warrant applications;
2. The number of Completion Certificates;
3. Fees;
4. Costs;
5. Number of Certificates; and
6. Number of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's)
This information will, in future be provided annually. It's collection will provide a better understanding of the building standards system across Scotland and assist in the development of legislation and guidance.
