Inspection of air-conditioning systems protocol: application form

Form for organisations to apply for permission to carry out inspections of air-conditioning systems over 12kw.


Inspections may only be carried out by members of organisations who have entered into a protocol, or arrangement, with the Scottish Government. Each organisation who does so must adhere to an operational framework.

The application form for a protocol is split into four sections:

  • section A, applicant organisation details
  • section B, scheme operation
  • section C, business plan
  • section D, declaration

Inspection of air conditioning systems in buildings is required under Article 15 and 16 of the 2010/31/EU directive.

This is implemented in Scotland by the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004, set out with accompanying guidance in Section 0 of both domestic and non-domestic technical handbooks.
