About

Creative Scotland will be beneficial to the sector - building a vibrant, strategic and forward-thinking development organisation for the arts and culture.

The Scottish Government is committed to the establishment of a single dedicated body for Scotland's arts and culture sector. It is intended to establish Creative Scotland as a Statutory Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB) through the Public Services Reform Bill.

In December 2008 we set up a publicly owned Limited Company under the chairmanship of Ewan Brown to take responsibility for all the practical transition arrangements, including staffing, systems and processes. The company is working closely with the Joint Board of The Scottish Arts Council and Scottish Screen, its chair, Richard Holloway, serves on the board of the company.

One of Creative Scotland's key functions will be to work closely with partners to support our creative industries, ensuring they thrive in Scotland. Culture Minister Linda Fabiani published a framework document on February 5, 2009 which sets out complementary roles and responsibilities of Creative Scotland and other bodies, including the enterprise agencies and local authorities.

Scotland's Creative Industries Partnership is an agreement on how key public sector bodies will work together to support creative industries, putting practitioners at the centre of the process.
