As well as its extensive programme of fourteen public
meetings across Scotland, to stimulate responses to
the draft Gaelic Language Bill, development agency Bòrd na
Gàidhlig will also meet with the London Gaels to discuss
the Bill.
Bòrd na Gàidhlig chief executive Allan Campbell
confirmed "The Gaelic Society of London is the oldest
such body in existence, and it has given constant vital
support to the language and culture for over two
hundred years. We value the support of Gaels from all
over the world and the London Gaels are particularly
important, and we are confident that they will have
robust and sensible recommendations for the
Scottish Executive on this Bill."
Gaelic Society of London president Iain Macleod
welcomes the meeting which he will publicise in the
Society newsletter, and he also informed their AGM last
week that the meeting is to take place. " We hope that
news of the meeting will reach all Gaels in this area
and that a large number will be able to gather to
discuss this Bill which is so important for
Gaelic."
The meeting will take place at Crown Court Church of
Scotland, Russell Street, Covent Garden, London WC2
B5EZ, on Monday 8th December at 6.00 pm.
