Phytosanitary requirements
Growing crop tolerances
Class tolerances apply.
Tuber tolerances
Minimum tolerances for seed export apply, except for:
Powdery scab ( Spongospora subterranea) ………… NIL
Silver scurf ( Helminthosporium solani) ……… 5% may have 33% of surface area affected
Other requirements
Varieties: only potato varieties in the official Moroccan Variety Catalogue may be imported.
Size: between 28 - 55 mm for oblong varieties, 30 - 65 mm for round varieties.
Chemicals: no chemicals are allowed which influence germination.
Packaging: 25 or 50 kg bags. Clean packaging which allows inspection and, if necessary, fumigation of the contents.
Certificates: the name of the importer should be given on the Phytosanitary Certificate. The statement "to order" is not allowed.
Procedures upon arrival
All consignments will be inspected upon arrival in Morocco. Samples will be taken for PCN (soil) and virus testing (200 tubers per crop).
Points of entry: Ports of: Agadir, Al-Hoceima, Casablanca, El-Jadida, Kenitra, Laayoune, Larache, Nador, Tanger; Frontier posts of: Beni Anzar (Nador), Finideq (Tanger), Jouj Baghal (Oujda); Airports of: Agadir, Casablanca, Cujda, Fes, Marrakech, Rabat-Sale, Tanger, Tetouan.
Additional declarations to be inserted on the reverse of the Phytosanitary Certificate for Seed Potatoes
1. Wart Disease (Synchytrium endobioticum) is not known to have occurred on the land in which the potatoes were grown.
2. Samples of soil from the land in which the potatoes were grown, were drawn and tested prior to planting by the Scottish Government and revealed no trace of viable cysts of Potato cyst nematodes (Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida).
3. Colorado beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata), Potato ring rot (Clavibacter michiganensis ssp. sepedonicus), Potato brown rot ( Ralstonia solanacearum), Potato smut (Angiosorus solani) and Potato spindle tuber viroid are not known to exist in Scotland.
4. Potato tuber nematode (Ditylenchus destructor), Root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) and Tomato canker (Clavibacter michiganensis ssp. michiganensis) have not been recorded in commercial stocks of potatoes in Scotland.
5. The consignment has been sieved, cleared and parked either at the port, frontier post or airport of dispatch under the supervision of an officer of the Plant Health Service in the country of origin or in a packing station mentioned and approved by the Plant Health Service and in this event has undergone a random inspection by a Plant Health Officer in the same service.
