The Scottish Government provides a range of development assistance across the agricultural sector, to keep Scottish producers competitive and improve business practices within the industry.

  • Agricultural Business Development Scheme - providing investment assistance and help for diversification for farmers and crofters within the Highland & Islands Special Transitional Programme area.
  • Agricultural Processing and Marketing Grants - capital assistance and advice for farmers across Scotland to improve structural deficiencies in the processing and marketing of agricultural produce.
  • Farm Business Benchmarking Online - an online service provided by Defra that enables farmers to benchmark their business against results from the Farm Accounts Survey.
  • Farm Business Development Scheme - providing financial assistance and help for diversification for farmers outwith the Highland & Islands Special Transitional Programme area.
  • Marketing Development Scheme - assistance and advice aimed at increasing efficiency and effectiveness throughouth the UK food marketing chain.
  • Whole Farm Review Scheme - a new scheme offering an overview of the farming business with an eye toward enhancing financial and environmental sustainability.
