Novel methods of disposal for use of Animal By-Products
Guidlines for application for New Alternative Methods of Disposal for use of Animal By-Products under EU Animal By-Products Regulation (1774/2002) are available on the European Commission website. Applications should be made to Scottish Government Rural Directorate, Room 358, Pentland House, 47 Robb's Loan, Edinburgh EH14 1TY.
Information on the National Fallen Stock Service, which was set up in 2004 in response to the burial ban set out in the above regulations, are also given in this section. The scheme is open to all farmed livestock owners and businesses.
A guidance note on the legal powers introduced by the above legislation has been produced. This includes details of competent authorities, enforcement, pet burials and such like.
