Pet Travel Scheme
The Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) has recently been introduced in Scotland to allow cat and dog owners to bring their pets into Britain from qualifying countries without entering quarantine, providing they comply with certain regulations. Further information on the PETS scheme,is avaliable from the Defra Website. At present there is only one approved route from Zeebrugge in Belgium to Rosyth, this link provides details of the importation route.
The current PETS rules are detailed on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs web site , if your animal complies with the rules then it can come into the country and you do not wish to use the Zeeburge to Rosyth route, it can come into the country by an authorised route into England.
Alternatively an animal may be imported under the quarantine rules and an application for early release can be submitted to the Department for consideration. The current time period for processing early release is 4 working days. Following this link will give details on the early release application.
