SCOTTISH BEEF CALF SCHEME

Scottish Beef Calf Scheme claims for animals born between 2 December 2004 and 1 December 2005 must be submitted by 31 December 2005, for payment in February 2006.

SINGLE FARM PAYMENT SCHEME - PAYMENTS

A letter has been issued to all Single Farm Payment Scheme participants letter telling them about payments under the scheme. The letter gave details of the advance payment, who will be eligible to paid, when the balance payment will be made and what reductions will be taken off. CROSS COMPLIANCE

The Cross Compliance Notes for Guidance have now been published. These replace Information Leaflet 7 which was issued in October 2004 and include the additional Statutory Management Requirements for 2006 and details of the Cross Compliance penalty system. Producers who participate in the Single Farm Payment Scheme, Scottish Beef Calf Scheme, Energy Crops Scheme, Protein Crop Premium Scheme and Nuts Aid Scheme will receive a copy.

EURO EXCHANGE RATE CONFIRMED

The Euro / Sterling exchange rate which will be used to calculate payments under the Single Farm Payment Scheme 2005 was confirmed on 3 October. The rate is set at £0.68195. This is the exchange rate in force on 30 September 2005.

Modulation Rates Announced

Ross Finnie announced on 25 February 2005 that the total rates of modulation (including both EU and UK) will be:

2005 - 6.5%

2006 - 8.5%

This total rate will fund the new Land Management Contract Menu Scheme and existing Agri-Environment and Forestry schemes.
