Action 33

"VisitScotland and the Enterprise Networks will work with the farming and landowning organisations, as well as other partners, to develop a Scotland wide walking tourism strategy. This will identify opportunities for the farming sector to benefit from visitors who come to Scotland for walking."

Progress

This action is now being taken forward primarily by VisitScotland and they have several walking promotions underway.

The main campaign, Walking Wild, is promoted by means of a brochure and a website, both of which detail Walking Festivals throughout Scotland. The promotion of walking holidays is reflected in all the VisitScotland campaigns for Scotland, both in the United Kingdom and internationally.

VisitScotland have also developed a brand plan for walking, along with a product development plan, which mirrors the needs and expectations of its consumers. This will involve working closely with relevant partners in developing the walking tourism product, including Scottish Natural Heritage, National Parks, private companies, councils, Paths for all Partnerships, Local Enterprise Companies and Area Tourist Boards.

For further information on walking tourism please go to the Walking Wild website.
