The study found that on average cases were concluding earlier and the reforms to summary criminal legal assistance and disclosure were felt to have influenced this. However there had been no improvement in time taken to dispose of cases, but given the wider programme of summary justice reforms, with the significant shift in the number and nature of offences in the sheriff courts, this was thought to be unsurprising
