A consultation was held from February to May 2012 seeking views on the proposed introduction into the private rented sector of a tenant information pack. Opinion was sought on what should be contained within the pack, what the pack should look like, and how it would work in practice. This document contains the responses received from individuals and organisations willing to make them public.

Executive Summary

The Private Rented Housing (Scotland) Act 2011[1] received Royal Assent on 20 April 2011. The Act aims to support responsible landlords, while addressing more effectively the problems caused by landlords who act unlawfully, by strengthening the regulation of the private rented sector. Section 33 of the Act places a statutory duty on a landlord to provide specified documents and information (a tenant information pack) to a tenant at the beginning of an assured tenancy.

The consultation carried out earlier this year sought views on what the pack should contain, its appearance, and how it would operate.

This document contains those responses to the consultation received from individuals and organisations willing to make them public. Certain individuals have opted for partial or complete anonymity.
