Overall the evaluation reports that the programme has largely been implemented in the way intended and that it is valued by both nurses and clients. Some of the positive benefits of the programme have included; positive working relationships being established between clients and nurses; clients developing greater knowledge and confidence as new parents; and greater working links between FNP and wider services in Lothian to support clients. Several learning points have also emerged, including; development of learning materials; flexibility of matching programme content to client needs; and managing workloads and training in order to deliver the programme.
