3.6 Peas & Beans for Combining ( Table 1)
These peas and beans are usually harvested by combine harvester and used as a source of protein in animal feed. Despite the sharp decrease in the area of beans in 2011, down 1,530 hectares (29.0%) to 3,738 hectares, the trend over the last ten years has been upwards from 2,127 hectares in 2001 (up 75.7%). By contrast, the area of peas has fluctuated around the 10 year average of 1,605 hectares.
