A2.1 Mediated case party questionnaire

EVALUATION OF THE IN-COURT MEDIATION PILOT SCHEMES IN SHERIFF COURTS
SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN
QUESTIONNAIRE FOR THOSE USING MEDIATION

We are asking people to help us evaluate the in-court mediation option which is being offered in the sheriff courts at Glasgow and Aberdeen. We need to hear your views, and hope that you will answer the questions below. The answers will be used only to inform the evaluation.

A pre-paid envelope is enclosed for your reply. Nothing contained in the answers will be used to identify you or your case personally in our report, nor will your identity be revealed to the sheriff, mediator, other party or advisers. Only the evaluation team will know who gave which answers.

When we write our report it will contain combined answers and may contain direct quotations from answers but will never identify you or your case by name.

The evaluation is being led by Margaret Ross from the University of Aberdeen, who would be very happy to deal with any queries you have about the questionnaire or the evaluation. She can be contacted on 01224 272421, email m.l.ross@abdn.ac.uk. Her research assistant is Douglas Bain who can be contacted on 01224 272436, email douglas.bain@abdn.ac.uk.

The questionnaire can be provided in other formats (e.g. large print, coloured background, electronic) if you prefer, or a telephone interview can be conducted instead. Please get in touch if you want us to arrange this.

A2.3 Mediator questionnaire

Evaluation of In-Court Mediation Pilots in Aberdeen and Glasgow Sheriff Courts

The School of Law at the University of Aberdeen is sponsored by the Scottish Government, Courts and Constitution Analytical Team,

Justice Analytical Services to carry out the evaluation of the In-court mediation pilots conducted in Aberdeen and Glasgow Sheriff Courts.

Court Mediation Services Limited have provided their database for the purposes of the evaluation and your name appears there as a person who could provide mediation services in the Pilot schemes.

The responses will be collected online by the University of Aberdeen. We would very grateful if you would complete the following questionnaire, if possible within the next 7 days. Please complete as much of it as is relevant to you. There is space throughout the questionnaire and at the end for comments.

The evaluation is being led by Margaret Ross, who would be very happy to deal with any queries you have about the questionnaire or the evaluation. She can be contacted on 01224 272421, email m.l.ross@abdn.ac.uk. The questionnaire can be provided in other formats if preferred.

Nothing contained in the answers will be used to identify you personally in our report, nor will your identity be revealed to the sheriff, other mediators, parties or advisers. Only the evaluation team will know who gave which answers. When we write our report it will contain combined answers and may contain direct quotations from answers (since these can be very informative) but will not identify anyone by name.

Thank you for taking part in this evaluation of the In Court Mediation Schemes in Glasgow and Aberdeen.
