What leadership is required?

1.20 Strong commitment and leadership is important at transport authority member and senior official level and senior bus operator management to give the impetus to tackling issues. Ensuring the success of the partnership requires a management structure at the appropriate level to help deliver successful outcomes to the sQP.

1.21 Trust and mutual respect between partners is essential and the key individuals involved in the creation of the sQP should ensure that this is extended to other departments and organisations whose support will be required to enable the sQP to be delivered.

1.22 Transport authority officers should look to ensure that they engage as early and as fully as possible with their elected members to convey the aspirations of the sQP, the benefits that it can offer and to secure their full support, as their decision making powers will influence the priorities for action.
