  • The value of agricultural output dropped from £2.2 billion in 2004 to £1.8 billion in 2005 due to change from subsidies to direct payments.
  • However, since 2005 the value of sales has been on the increase and reached £2.3 billion in 2008.

  • Sea fishing sales were highest in 2002, at £292 million. In 2006, they were at £234 million.
  • Aquaculture sales were lowest in 2004, at £185 million. In 2006 they were at £241 million.

  • Sales across all four sectors of the food and drink industry increased during the period of 1998-2006.
  • The total sales in the food and drink industry as a whole increased from £21.1 billion in 1998 to £27.3 billion in 2006.
