ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Understanding the finances of students in Scotland is an important task. The research team would like to thank all of Scotland's universities and colleges' Principals, data protection and ethics officers. In initiating negotiations over access to students within institutions, we would particularly like to acknowledge the role of Professor Andrew Hamnett, Sir Muir Russell and Professor Tom Wilson, Principals of the Universities of Strathclyde and Glasgow and Glasgow Metropolitan College respectively. We would also like to thank Ralph Weedon and Ruth Adams of Strathclyde University for their expert guidance through the regulations and requirements of data protection and ethics in Scottish universities and colleges. Debbie Campbell, Shiona Chillas and Eli Dutton of Strathclyde also provided administrative and technical help when required. We are also very appreciative of the small army of administrative staff within the participating universities and colleges who helped disseminate information and material for the project to students in their institutions. Finally, we would like to thank Gerhard Mors, Paul Sloan and Linzie Liddle of the Scottish Government and all of the members of the Research Advisory Group for their invaluable support and advice during the project.
