5. Concluding remarks

These comments are part of the three strands of consultation undertaken by the Scottish Government on their response to the UN Committee's Concluding Observations. The priorities identified in this report were arrived at as a result of in-depth discussion by people from a wide cross-section of sectors and interests..

Throughout the seminars participants identified a wide range of issues which require action and gaps where more attention should be paid. While acknowledging that there is always work to be done, they recognised signs that children's rights have moved significantly up political and professional agendas in recent years.

The seminars proved to be an opportunity greatly welcomed by professionals to gather together to discuss issues effecting children in the context of children's rights and the UNCRC. This is reflected in the overwhelmingly positive comments in the feedback forms of the seminars
