THIS CONSULTATION

Purpose of this consultation

This consultation invites responses about the Government's strategic framework to increase Scotland's resilience to the consequences of a changing climate - Scotland's Climate Change Adaptation Framework (Adaptation Framework). It forms the second of a two-stage consultation process. The first consultation ran from June to October 2008 and focussed on establishing the strategic direction for the Adaptation Framework. It sought input on the Government's understanding of climate change adaptation and the strategic principles and priority actions underpinning a sustainable approach to climate change adaptation. The responses received to this consultation, and an accompanying analysis report, are available at: www.scotland.gov.uk/climatechangeadaptation .

The second stage of consultation seeks to further develop the strategic aims and objectives of the Adaptation Framework as well as outlining an Action Programme for 2009 to 2011 to drive progress towards the objectives. The paper proposes roles for key actors in preparing for a changing climate and outlines arrangements to measure and report progress against the Adaptation Framework.
