5. NEXT STEPS
5.1 Consultation is an important part of the SEA process. Consultees are now invited to comment on this Environmental Report, and to express their views on the SPP itself taking into account the environmental information provided here.
5.2 Consultees are asked to focus their responses on the likely significant changes to the SPP and their environmental effects. It may also be helpful to consider the following key questions:
1. Can you identify any other baseline environmental information which might alter or strengthen the findings set out in the Environmental Report?
2. Do you agree that the SEA covers all of the significant policy changes within the SPP? If not, please highlight any other policy changes which could generate significant environmental effects.Should the Scottish Government agree that the SEA process has overlooked any significant policy changes, further environmental assessment work will be undertaken, to inform the finalisation of the policy. If necessary, this will include additional consultation on a revised environmental report.
3. Are you concerned about any other environmental effects that may result from the SPP as a whole?
4. Do you feel there is a need for additional environmental mitigation or monitoring measures?
5.3 The table below sets out the current programme for finalising the policy and concluding the SEA process.
