Section 51: Consequential revocation of transitional Orders

Section 51 makes provision of the revocation of the transitional Orders. This has already been explained above.

Section 52: Crown application

Section 52 provides that the Act binds the Crown.

Section 53: Short title and commencement

This section provides for the short title of the Bill which is the Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Act 2009.

Section 53(2) provides that, with the exception of the provisions mentioned below, the Act comes into force at the beginning of the day after the day on which the Bill for the Act receives Royal Assent. This means essentially that Parts 1, 3 ,4 and 7 ( excerpt 51(3)) come into force on that day.

Section 53(3) provides that Parts 2, 5 and, in Part 7, section 51(3) come into force on such day as Scottish Ministers may by order made by statutory instrument appoint. Section 53(4) and (5) provide that different days may be appointed for different purposes and an order may contain transitional, transitory or saving provision.
